The Round Valley Community Theater Presents... On The Edge Sanity, like beauty, is often in the eye of the beholder. Directed by Joan Burke November 7 - 8, and November 14 - 15, 1998 "On the Edge" was presented as a Reader's Theater Production Excerpts from "Beyond Therapy" by Christopher Durang and "Vivien" by Percy Granger were used by permission of Samual French, Inc. "The Defenseless Creature" was taken from Neil Simon's longer production, "The Good Doctor", and appeared by permission of Samual French, Inc. The monologue from "Still Life" by Emily Mann was used by permission of Dramatists Play Service. The Cast Brian Burke is artistic director of Round Valley Community Theater and, in addition to directing numerous plays in Round Valley over the years, has appeared in "The Foreigner" and in Readers Theater productions, "Encounters" and "Seven Not So Easy Pieces." Gayla Hawkins debuted in Round Valley as Mrs. Hardcastle in "She Stoops to Conquer." She also appeared in "Encounters," "Seven Not So Easy Pieces" and "The Phantom Rider." Tom Helme (whose parents insist he has been acting since babyhood) made his first stage appearance as the villain in "The Valiant Villain" and performed locally in "The Courters," "Encounters," "Seven Not So Easy Pieces" and "The Phantom Rider." Nina R. Hettema debuted in Hawaii as Annie Sullivan in "The Miracle Worker," then as Gertrude in "Hamlet." She has since participated in over forty theatrical productions, among them Round Valley's "The Courters," "Encounters" and "Seven Not So Easy Pieces." Jenny Hawkins Marsh returns to the Round Valley stage, where she previously appeared in "She Stoops to Conquer" during her freshman year of high school. Jenny also appeared in several school productions, including "Fame," "Taming of the Shrew," and as Meg Flannigan in "Rags to Riches." Kevin Marsh joins this production via the stage-struck Hawkins family. This is Kevin's acting debut. Sharon Mills debuted in Round Valley as Constance Neville in "She Stoops to Conquer ," with previous experience (not really that long ago) in high school productions of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" and in "The Emperor's Nightingale." She also appeared in the Reader's Theater presentation, "Encounters." Tony Tucker began his stage career in a grade school production of "Babes in Toyland" and next appeared in two Round Valley High School productions, as Lysander in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and as Mortimer in "Arsenic and Old Lace." Tony was also part of the cast of "Encounters," "Seven Not So Easy Pieces," and "The Phantom Rider." Don Yoder's first acting experience was in Round Valley's "She Stoops to Conquer" as Stingo, aside from an early appearance in sixth grade in a show called "The Bells." He has performed locally in the Reader's Theater presentation of "The American Dream," in "The Foreigner," and again in "The Courters" and "Seven Not So Easy Pieces."
