Round Valley Children's Choir

Round Valley Children’s Choir will “sing out” Dec 22, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the North Fork Café, downtown Covelo, to celebrate Christmas, Peace in the Valley and the best of our local youth’s talent and energy.

In addition to the Round Valley Children’s Choir, accomplished young musicians from throughout Mendocino County will share their melodic gifts. Master of Ceremonies, Tom Helme, of Covelo and Humboldt State in Arcata, will liven up the evening with his charming wit.

Three Men & A Bass

Ben Fetzer

Kenny and Michelle Lambert

Round Valley Elementary School children have been meeting in the high school music room after class to learn old and new songs for fun and to perform for a Youth Alive! Christmas celebration presented by the the Round Valley Community Theater with sponsorship from Mendocino County’s Community Prevention in Action. The after-school singing program is under the youthful leadership of Michelle Lambert, 16 and Sara Hill, 17 who have been leading the children in song every Tuesday and Thursday since October.

We are inviting BIG kids to the program, too. Joining Round Valley Children’s Choir will be accomplished young musicians from Mendocino County who will be a delight to see and hear.

Master of Ceremonies, Tom Helme, 19, of Covelo and Humboldt State in Arcata, has worked with college radio and will liven up the evening with his charming wit.

Jason Serfling
, 21, of Fort Bragg, is releasing his 6th CD of original and enchanting piano compositions and arrangements. His music is played at inns and hotels around the world. Jason will treat us to his whimsical genius and mastery of the keyboard.

3 Men & a Bass, four young musicians from Ukiah will sing a cappella, barbershop quartet-style with youthful zest. They have a new CD out and have performed at Ukiah’s Sundays in the Park summer series and will be at Ukiah’s First Night celebration, December 31, ‘01

Michelle Lambert, who has performed throughout northern California, will twin-fiddle with her brother, Kenny, who is home from Florida State University, where he is studying and teaching violin as a graduate student. He plays with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and contributes his sweet violin harmonies to many ensembles.

Michelle will also duet with Ben Fetzer, 21, of Covelo and Chico State. Ben will play precise acoustic guitar to Michelle’s fiddle on vintage bluegrass and swing tunes.

Community families are housing the visiting youthful musicians Saturday night so that they don’t have to drive the Covelo Road at night and so that they can spend a little time here and get to know us better.

Round Valley Children’s Choir will also be performing at the Round Valley Elementary School Christmas program, Thursday evening, December 20, ’01 - 6:30 pm at the RVES multi-purpose room. The choir has also been invited to sing at the Round Valley Indian Housing Authority and Drug Elimination Program’s Annual Christmas Party at the Rec Center.

Look’s like a big holiday entertainment celebration season ahead. Be sure to catch the shows and support our youth!
