Welcome to Round Valley High School located in the beautiful town of Covelo, California. The original inhabitants of Round Valley were the Yuki Native Americans. Today several other Native American Tribes, including the Pit River, Nomilacki, Concow, Pomo, and Wailaki, call Round Valley their home. Originally there were many local schools including the "Indian School" at the Indian headquarters but it was not until 1904 that the original Round Valley High School was constructed. The first graduating class was 1907 with the 1908 graduating class consisting of one. Since then the enrollment has grown to approximately 130 students. Our school consists of a regular comprehensive High School, a Continuation School, a Community Day School, and an Independent Study Program, while our physical facilities consist of a gymnasium, swimming pool, a football and baseball field, and vocational shops (wood shop, metal shop, and auto shop). Our academics include all of the traditional courses and range from music to CAD (yes, our staff and students are computer literate). We also have a clinical director and outreach worker that work as liaisons between the school and the community. Our athletics include a football team, (varsity and junior varsity), volleyball, baseball, and basketball teams with cheerleaders. Quite an accomplishment for a school our size. We have supplemental programs such as Title IX (a Native American tutorial and counseling program) and Native Treads (Substance Abuse Prevention and Mentorship Program). We take pride in our students and focus on student achievement so that they can compete with any school in the country. To demonstrate their competence our seniors are required to complete Senior Quest, a project designed to promote independence and competence and is a requirement for graduation. Our teachers and support staff are a dedicated group of individuals that are not just working in Covelo but are a part of the community.
