| Some may recognize these Covelo Youths
as the Band that shook the courthouse windows at their first Blackberry
Festival appearance, or perhaps from one of the many famous Barn Dances
at the Landtrust. They have also performed at the North Fork Cafe
and talent shows in Arcata. Their name was a gift from Howard Wenz
a local musical inspiration. Previously they called themselves Anti-Hero.
These three skater punks began playing together in 7th grade. Andy
and Will learned to play guitar and bass together while Lennon had
many years of drum and piano lessons. Andy, Will, and Lennon were
first influenced by Nirvana and later more hard core punk and ska
bands including NOFX and Rancid. In their latest performances they
seem to have a Hip Hop feel about them. Will is a talented lyricist,
spitting hot rhymes on the spot! |

What are they doing now? Since the
band broke up a couple of years ago...Lennon and Andy went on to Humbolt
after graduating from Round Valley High. They began a group called
Shakedown with a front man known to most as John Coke. Now Lennon
is living in Sebastapol performing with two bands. One is called los
Gringos and the other is a latin band. He plays guitar for both. Will
is residing in Potter Valley where hs is still picking up his guitar,
and rumored to be working on song lyrics. Andy hasn't been doing much
with music lately, but is hoping to start a 70's punk- Clash inspired
band in Sonoma County when he moves there for school next semester.
