LOCAL ARTIST

Visual Art, Classic and Musical Theater

Gayla has a natural inclination for art and appreciation for her surroundings. She frequently volunteers to make signs and illustrations for various community events and projects. Although she has demonstrated style flexibility, she enjoys natural line and realism the most—with special interest in portraits, wildlife, fantasy, and cartoon. She is currently studying fiber arts, specifically dyes and silks. She describes her training as informal; taught by her mother, three painting classes, and some college courses at "Round Valley College." Her work has won four blue ribbons at county fair. Gayla has experience teaching color and style and is happy to share all of her skills with students of any age.

Gayla has also been very active in the community theater over the years. She has been in numerous plays and is often a big part of behind-the scenes activity such as being the make-up artist for the cast as well as designing sets and painting backdrops. Gayla has also directed her own productions, such as the Multicultural Cultural Children's Christmas Pageant in 1997.
